Yale Field Hockey Team Supports MDF with “Get A Grip” Campaign
Kicking-off the season on September 3rd the Yale Field Hockey team will also be kicking-off their “Get A Grip” campaign to support the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation (MDF). Motivated by sophomore goalkeeper Ona McConnell’s diagnosis with the disorder, the Bulldogs are dedicating their 2010 season to raising awareness, raising funds and to providing support to Ona and others with this rare disease.
The campaign starts with the season opener against Sacred Heart on Friday, September 3rd at Johnson Field (7:00 p.m.). Yale will be accepting donations for the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation, the leading global organization whose sole focus is myotonic dystrophy. Everyone who donates during the game will receive a Myotonic Dystrophy wristband to help raise awareness. "Get a Grip" T-shirts will also be available for sale, the proceeds of which will also benefit the MDF. In addition, the Bulldogs will wear specially designed jerseys during the game. In addition to the kick-off event on September 3rd, the team will also be accepting pledges, throughout the season, for a "Goal-a-thon" in which donations are based on the number of goals Yale scores. When you make a pledge to the “Goal-a-thon” you will not only be supporting the Bulldogs but also the MDF.
