MDF Announces 4th Annual "Fund-A-Fellow" Postdoctoral Fellowship Call for Applications
The Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) is pleased to announce the 4th annual program to support innovative research on myotonic dystrophy. On January 1, 2012, the MDF will award up to three postdoctoral research fellowships, each providing two years of support at $50,000 per fellowship, per year. We are excited to expand this year's program to include applicants from around the globe.
The goals of the MDF are to stimulate research that is closely aligned with its core mission: to lead and mobilize resources toward effective management, treatment and a cure for myotonic dystrophy through education, advocacy, and research.
The MDF will consider proposals for postdoctoral fellows working in clinical, basic, or applied research in any of the following areas:
- Pathogenesis of myotonic dystrophy
- Studies of disease progression that are necessary steps toward therapeutic trials
- Best practices and management of myotonic dystrophy
- Therapeutic and diagnostic development
Timeline:
- September 16, 2011: Applications must be sent to the MDF by 5:00 pm Pacific Time.
- September 16-November 18, 2011: Applications reviewed by peer review committee.
- December 22, 2011: Fellowship recipients notified via letter and by email. Only successful candidates will receive notification.
- January 1, 2012: Earliest activation date of award.
- January 13, 2012: By this date, recipients must notify the MDF of acceptance or rejection of award.
- April 15, 2012: Latest activation date of award.
