IMDO Winding Down Operations
Dear IMDO Community,
The International Myotonic Dystrophy Organization Board of Directors and I have made a decision to wind down operations of the International Myotonic Dystrophy Organization.

I would like to thank all of you for your support over the years and reassure you that I am not leaving the cause, merely changing my involvement. I am pleased to announce that I will continue being an advocate for this community and have accepted an invitation to join the board of directors of the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation, a patient advocacy organization which has the same mission of helping this community and finding a cure. As we have all begun to gain ground on that goal, the board of directors of the IMDO felt that this was the right time to direct our efforts into the MDF, resulting in a strong, efficient effort towards our shared mission.
Many of you may already be familiar with the MDF but for those of you who are not, I invite you to visit the MDF website: www.myotonic.org, which is an excellent resource to learn about myotonic dystrophy. I would also recommend that if your are an affected individual or a family member that you order a "Family Empowerment Pack" which is a free medical information packet from the MDF that has several books on myotonic dystrophy, medical information from the MDF website, medical alert cards, medical history sheets and a lot more. I also encourage you to join the MDF community site. As of Thursday, May 6, 2010, the IMDO website will begin forwarding directly to the MDF website. The IMDO community site will be available for the next month to give you time to move your important information to the MDF community site.
It is only through the participation of everyone that we will achieve results, so I would encourage you to please take the time to get involved with the MDF.
Sincerely,
Richard Weston
