Myotonic Dystrophy researchers were awarded over $5 million as part of the fiscal year 2023 grant cycle. Since myotonic dystrophy was designated as an eligible research area, over $21 million has been allocated to advancing research in this critical field.

Dr. Kathryn Argue currently serves as the Interim Program Manager for the Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP), within the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command.
As the Interim Program Manager for the PRMRP, Dr. Argue is responsible for the execution of the PRMRP program lifecycle, including the annual investment strategy, development of program announcements, application review, funding of awards, and oversight of in-progress research. Dr. Argue joined CDMRP as a Science Officer in 2018. As a Science Officer, she provided scientific management and support to the PRMRP portfolios related to Neurosciences, Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Prior to her positions at CDMRP, Dr. Argue completed a postdoctoral fellowship in developmental neuroendocrinology, where she conducted rodent experiments to study sex differences in the endocannabinoid system, social behavior, and development of the amygdala. She also conducted a tangential series of experiments on sex differences and social behavior functioning in the Neurexin 1 alpha knockout rat model of autism.
Dr. Argue holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacological and Physiological Sciences from Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
