2019 Myotonic Annual Conference - Things to do in Philadelphia!

Myotonic is pleased to announce the 2019 Myotonic Annual Conference, taking place Friday, September 13 and Saturday, September 14, 2019, at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. This year's conference program will include a host of sessions exploring research, drug development, disease symptom management, and provide formal and informal community networking opportunities. Outside of the conference programming, attendees are encouraged to enjoy the local sights and attractions in Philadelphia:

  • Snap a photo in front of the Liberty Bell - Part of the U.S. National Park Service and Independence National Park, the Liberty Bell’s home on Independence Mall looms as powerful and dramatic as the bell itself.
  • Pose with the Rocky Statue & run up the "Rocky Steps." - A near constant flow of people arrive daily to snap a picture with the Rocky statue at the bottom of the stairs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and then hustle up the museum’s grand stairway to try their hand at the famous two-arms-raised salute.

  • Chow down on food from dozens of vendors at Reading Terminal Market. - Beloved by locals and tourists alike, this historic indoor market features more than 80 vendors offering an astonishing variety of food, with some vendors operating in much the same way that they did when the market opened in 1892.
  • Visit the awesome museums on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. - Philadelphia’s diagonal Benjamin Franklin Parkway stretches one mile from just beyond City Hall to the Philadelphia Museum of Art at the edge of Fairmount Park, acting as the home of museums, cultural institutions and other attractions.
  • Take in an epic view of City Hall — then tour the massive building. - In his original 1682 design for the city, William Penn set aside the Center Square for public buildings, but it took 200 years before the square was used for that purpose.

  • Get spooked at Eastern State Penitentiary - Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America's most notorious lawbreakers, including "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone.
