Dr. Cynthia DeSoi
Hospice & Palliative Care Physician
Dr. Cynthia DeSoi is a hospice and palliative care physician with over 40 years of medical experience. Formerly a nephrologist, she was drawn to palliative care in 2020 after her family was directly impacted by myotonic dystrophy. Inspired by her daughter and husband's diagnosis with Type 1 myotonic dystrophy, this experience has cemented her commitment to ensuring that patients and families facing serious, complex conditions receive compassionate, holistic care centered on their needs and values.
Emma-Jayne Ashley
Founding Trustee, Cure DM
Emma-Jayne Ashley is a Founding Trustee of Cure DM and a knowledgeable, experienced patient advocate. As the mother of a son born with congenital myotonic dystrophy, she has dedicated her career to improving daily living, quality of life, and access to palliative and end-of-life care for families affected by DM.
