Global Alliance of 60+ Myotonic Dystrophy Organisations Celebrate the Fourth Annual International Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day

On the 15th of September 2024, the Global Alliance for Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness unites over 60+ organisations from around the globe to mark the fourth annual International Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about myotonic dystrophy (DM), a complex and often misunderstood genetic disease that aﬀects thousands of individuals and families worldwide.

High Priority, Short-Term Project Award Recipient: Lukasz Sznajder, PhD, MSc

Dr. Łukasz J. Sznajder specializes in deciphering molecular mechanisms in human disorders caused by tandem repeat expansions and developing preclinical models and therapeutic strategies. As a tenure-track Assistant Professor at UNLV since 2023, he remains dedicated to exploring the roles of RNA biology in DM1 and DM2.

Welcome Scarlett Chidgey, Director of Development

Scarlett brings 12 years of fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector to the team. In her role at MDF, Scarlett works to support our largest fundraising event of the year, the MDF Gala, and grow our revenue to ensure that MDF is able to continue expanding care and research efforts.

MDF is excited to highlight the work of five MDF interns, who have been working across several departments throughout this Summer! We are elated that Annalise, Danny, Juan, Natalie, and Sunny, have dedicated themselves to the MDF mission of Community, Care, and a Cure. Celebrate Myotonic Dystrophy In Motion Awareness Month - July 2024!

The first annual Myotonic Dystrophy In Motion Awareness Month took place in July 2024! With over 130 registrants from over 12 countries and 32 different US states, we are so thrilled to see the DM community’s excitement to get moving together. Throughout the month, MDF hosted four webinars designed for all activity and comfort levels, that followed weekly themes.
